Services Offered at Bethshan
Bethshan is committed to providing an
environment that is responsive to the needs and expectations of the members
it serves. Placement at each of our programs is structured to provide varying
levels of supervision and assistance appropriate to the level of functioning
of each member. Each member is supported by a QMRP(Qualified Mental
Retardation Professional) who works as their liaison and advocate;
coordinating needed services and supports. The intent is to enable each
member to achieve greater levels of independence. Services coordinated by the
QMRP may include: Speech Therapy, Occupational and / or Physical Therapy,
Psychological Services, Medical Services and Therapeutic Recreation.
Bethshan provides its comprehensive medical care through its staff of licensed
nurses. In addition, Bethshan utilizes the professional services of many
medical professionals which include: a pharmaceutical company, a dentist, a
podiatrist, an optometrist, a psychiatrist, a neurologist, medical records,
and an orthopedic surgeon. All of these dedicated professionals work together
to provide Bethshan with distinguished medical treatment. These services are
not only administered according to regulatory guidelines, but also in keeping
with Bethshan's commitment to providing outstanding services to our members.
Bethshan continues to expand its services by
supporting programs in four southwestern suburbs of the Chicago
metropolitan area. In addition to its larger ICF/DD programs, Bethshen
operates several CILA programs (Community Integrated Living Arrangement). The
purchase of individual homes and apartment buildings for these programs
supports the mission of Bethshan in seeking greater independence and security
for each member it serves. Bethshan strives to promote acceptance, accessibility,
and inclusion in church and community life for all persons served, including
those with the most severe disabilities.
Spiritual Development
Bethshan is committed to the spiritual well-being of each member of the
Bethshan family. All individuals are viewed as children of God and treated
with respect, dignity, and love. Involvement in local church communities
provides opportunities for worship and fellowship. Devotions at mealtime and
group Bible Studies are designed to encourage individual expressions of faith
and allow time for sharing joys and concerns.
